For surgery in our private clinics, complementary hospital insurance (LCA) with semi-private or private cover is required — basic insurance (LAMal) alone is not sufficient. No — the decision is always yours. Dr Jenny's role is to present the benefit-risk balance of each option, surgical or conservative, so that the best care can be decided together.

As a rule, expect 4 to 5 days after a simple lumbar disc herniation. The exact duration depends on the procedure and your recovery — it is decided together with Dr Jenny.
Expect at least 4 to 6 weeks off work, while living normally — without carrying loads over 5 kg or practising sports that strain the spine.
